Building Services Removing Stripped Screws The face of the devil himself.

In 1967 Martin Seligman performed and experiment on several groups of dogs using electric shocks that would only cease when a lever was pushed. One of the groups of dogs had levers that didn’t work, so they basically learned to accept the fact that shocks were inevitable and there was nothing they could do to stop them. Even when their levers were finally enabled to stop the shocks the dogs didn’t bother trying to use the lever because they thought the situation was helpless and the shock was inevitable. It’s safe to say that we experience that level of helplessness and frustration when we come upon a screw that has been stripped. Luckily there is hope. Simply place a rubber band in between a stripped screw and your screw driver to give it enough grip to remove.
